Pilots to Join Australian Aviation Federation
Today, the Australian and International Pilots Association (AIPA) will officially join the Australian Aviation Union Federation (AUF), giving pilots a voice through the largest representative aviation body in country.
AIPA members now join over 30,000 Australian families who are covered by the peak body, including members of the Transport Workers Union (TWU), the Flight Attendants Association of Australia (FAAA), and the Australian Licenced Aircraft Engineers Association (ALAEA).
The AUF allows airline employees to share resources and campaign together to promote safety, as well as fair rates of pay and working conditions across the industry.
The AUF is not opposed to Qantas’ expansion, after all - who doesn’t want Qantas to be a successful company? The Qantas group can use its influence to improve the industry rather than undermine standards and service. We want Airline staff in Australian skies to be paid Australian rates, not $360 a month working out of Thailand. With a 65 per cent dominance of the domestic market, and growing passenger numbers internationally, the Qantas Group has the influence to defend our standards.
The AUF has asked for community support for our campaign to Save Aussie Jobs, and a number of politicians from all parties will be attending.
